Penrith Cricket Club has received a £2,500 donation from Persimmon Homes Lancashire through its Community Champions initiative. The funding will support the club’s junior, women’s and girls’, and disability teams, helping to provide equipment, indoor winter training facilities, and enhanced coaching opportunities to develop the next generation of players.
The club plans to use the donation to cover the cost of cricket equipment and hiring sports halls for pre-season indoor training, while also investing in high-quality coaching to help players of all ages and abilities reach their potential.
The donation reflects Persimmon Homes Lancashire’s commitment to supporting communities where it operates, including in Penrith, where the housebuilder is delivering new homes at its Saddleback View development, which currently offers a range of three and four-bedroom detached and semi-detached homes.
Joe Walker of Penrith Cricket Club said: “We are grateful to Persimmon for this generous donation. The funding will make a real difference across our junior, women’s and girls’, and disability sections. It will help us provide equipment, access indoor training facilities throughout the winter, and invest in coaching that will support player development across the club.
“We are passionate about making cricket accessible to everyone and creating opportunities for people to get involved in the game. This support will help us continue that work and develop the next generation of cricketers.”
Karen McArthur, Sales Manager at Persimmon Homes Lancashire, said: “We are delighted to support Penrith Cricket Club through our Community Champions initiative.
“The club provides fantastic opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to take part in cricket, develop new skills and enjoy being part of a team. We are proud to support their efforts and look forward to seeing the positive impact this funding will have both on and off the pitch.”
Persimmon’s Community Champions scheme provides funding to charities, voluntary groups and community organisations where the housebuilder operates. Through the programme, thousands of pounds are donated each year to support local causes and strengthen communities.
