The Met Office have issued a yellow warning for
thunderstorms across Cumbria and most of northern England and Southern Scotland
throughout today (Saturday 16th June).
The weather warning issued this morning is in place between
11am and 10pm on Saturday.
The Met Office said: "Slow moving thunderstorms and
heavy showers may cause some disruption to travel and outdoor activities with a
chance driving conditions will be affected by spray, standing water and/or
hail, leading to longer journey times by car and bus.”
“Some flooding of a few homes and businesses is possible,
leading to some damage to buildings or structures”
Some short-term loss of power and other services is likely
in the area along with disruption to train services.
As of 10:20am the thunderstorm was forming over the Irish
sea moving slowly towards the southwest coast of Cumbria.
