Come On Penrith! Let’s Bring the Coca-Cola Christmas Truck Back to Town After 11 Years

Penrith has the chance to bring the famous Coca-Cola Christmas Truck back to town for the first time in 11 years, with the drinks giant asking the public to help choose where its iconic red truck will visit this Christmas.

The truck last rolled into Penrith on 28 November 2015, attracting visitors keen to see one of the most recognisable sights of the festive season. Now, almost 11 years later, residents have an opportunity to put Penrith back on the Christmas Truck Tour map.

Coca-Cola has launched a nationwide public vote allowing people to nominate towns for a potential visit during November and December, with voting open until midnight on Tuesday 3 November.

It means Penrith has just over a week to get behind the campaign and make its case for the return of the illuminated red truck, which has become a familiar part of Christmas celebrations across Britain.

A visit would bring more than just the famous truck to town. Coca-Cola is promising a festive experience at each confirmed stop, with Christmas lights, photo opportunities, interactive games, exclusive merchandise and free samples of its drinks.

It could also provide a welcome boost for Penrith's shops, cafés and other town centre businesses during the important Christmas trading period, attracting visitors who might otherwise head elsewhere for festive attractions.

The opportunity comes at a time when Penrith's Christmas events have been in the spotlight following the loss of the traditional Winter Droving, which organisers Eden Arts relocated to Carlisle this year.

While the town is preparing for Penrith Sparkle on Saturday 21 November, bringing entertainment and festive activities to the town centre, a return of the Coca-Cola Christmas Truck would offer another attraction for local families and visitors.

Research commissioned by Coca-Cola found that 82 per cent of respondents wished their local town felt more festive at Christmas, while 83 per cent believed a visit from the Christmas Truck would make the season feel more special.

More than a third said they would choose a town to help bring additional visitors to its high street, while 36 per cent would prioritise places that do not usually host major Christmas events.

The campaign is being supported by YouTube star Joe Sugg, who has already voted for Corsham in Wiltshire, where he attended school.

Encouraging people to back their own communities, Sugg said: “Christmas feels most special when there is something everyone can enjoy together.

“I'm excited that people across Great Britain can vote for a town where the Coca-Cola Christmas Truck could add even more festive sparkle – whether that means more things to do, a new reason for friends and families to come together, or simply an unforgettable dose of Christmas magic.”

Rob Yeomans, vice-president of commercial development at Coca-Cola Europacific Partners GB, said the public vote was also an opportunity to support local high streets.

“This year, people can help choose where it visits next. With more than a third saying they'd pick a town to help attract more visitors to its centre, it's a great opportunity to put local high streets in the spotlight and celebrate the businesses at the heart of them.

“We'd encourage everyone to get involved and vote for their town.”

There is no guarantee that Penrith will secure a visit, with towns across Great Britain competing for a place on the tour, but the public vote gives residents the opportunity to show Coca-Cola there is support for bringing the truck back.

For those who remember its last visit in 2015, it would be a welcome return. For a new generation of children, it could be their first opportunity to see the famous Christmas Truck in Penrith.

So come on Penrith, let's get behind the town and see if we can bring the Coca-Cola Christmas Truck back after 11 years.

Voting is open now through the official Coca-Cola website and closes at midnight on Tuesday 3 November. Age and eligibility restrictions apply, with full terms and conditions available on the voting page.

Penrith last welcomed the truck in 2015. Could Christmas 2026 be the year it returns?
