Veterans gathered for a Remembrance Sunday breakfast in Penrith this morning (Sunday 10th November) ahead of taking part in the Penrith Remembrance Sunday Parade through Penrith from 1:45pm.
The veterans representing all the branches of the UK armed forces gathered at the Penrith and Eden Armed Forces Breakfast Club today held at the Premier Inn at Penrith New Squares with the free breakfast sponsored by the Leo Group and donation made also be Westmorland and Furness Council.
Some of the veterans attending today’s breakfast said they enjoy the breakfast club as “it’s like a family even if you have never met the others form your first day attending it’s like one big family we all share stories of our time serving and we all remember those no longer with us”
They said they get a lot out of been able to talk with others who have had the same experiences through serving in the forces and the breakfast club is a great way to socialise with other veterans in a relaxed safe environment.
The Penrith Armed Forces Veterans Breakfast Club is part of a UK wide network of breakfast clubs established to facilitate veterans and serving Armed Forces personnel to meet face to face in a relaxed, safe, social environment to enjoy breakfast and banter, to combat loneliness and allow veterans to ”return to the tribe” and provide a supportive and welcoming environment for veterans of the armed forces.
