Penrith Town Council members will be asked to approve a new Penrith logo at its meeting on Monday evening.
Penrith Town council has paid almost £5,000 to a Carlisle based company to design the new town branding logo after members of the town council in early 2023 were originally presented with a design that was a reworked version of the current town council logo. Councillors rejected the design leading to a redesigned logo taking over a year to be brought before the new council for approval.
The town council has said it will retain full copyright on the new logo requiring stakeholders wanting to use the logo to first get written permission of the town council.
The new logo design is the letter P with designs depicting the Penrith Castle, Penrith Beacon and the Musgrave monument making up the upright of the letter P.
This project has been developed by a group called the “Penrith Marketing group” the council has said is a working group of another group called the “Town Working Group”.
The town council has said that members of the Penrith Marketing Group include:
• Penrith Town Council
• Westmorland and Furness Council
• Penrith Chamber of Trade
• Penrith Industrial Bid
• Penrith Town Bid
The Marketing Group working with Penrith Arts and Culture Group asked Penrith Town Council to be the lead and develop the project working closely with the Marketing Group
