At 11am today (11th November) people will take the time to pause and pay their respects to the past and present Armed Forces community, at the exact time and date that formal hostilities ended in World War One.
Today marks 106 years since the Armistice was signed, ending World War One.
As the UK along with other national fall silent at 11am the Prime Minister will mark Armistice Day in Paris as the first British leader to do so since the Second World War.
At the personal invitation of President Macron, the Prime Minister will join French and British veterans, and the public, to pay tribute to the fallen of the First World War and veterans of subsequent conflicts.
The Prime Minister is believed to be the first UK leader to attend the commemorations since Winston Churchill, who was hosted by General de Gaulle in 1944.
The Remembrance Sunday parade and service were held in Penrith on yesterday, To mark Remembrance Day today (Monday 11th November) there will be a dedication of the Garden of Remembrance at St Andrews at 10.50am followed by 2 minutes silence at 11am.
Uniformed Services wreathes have been placed at the War Memorial at Castle Park with civic wreathes placed at St Andrews.
