Police Close Off Mile Lane as Emergency Crews Respond to Incident

Police have closed off Mile Lane as Fire Crews and Ambulances responded to an incident on the lane near the junction with the A66.

plumes of thick black smoke had been seen filling the sky as fire engines and ambulances raced through Castletown to the scene on the incident at just after 6pm this evening.

The road is currently closed to all traffic and pedestrians with a police cordon in place.


A car crashed into a wall at the entrance to Penrith Golf hub and burst into flames in the

incident that involved two vehicles with one of the drivers reported for dangerous driving by police.

One of the vehicles involved a car that had crashed into a stone wall has been totally gutted by the fire that fire crews from the two engines in attendance extinguished.

None of the vehicle occupants involved are believed to have been injured in the incident.
