Remember, remember the fifth of November! With Bonfire Night almost upon us, Penrith Young Farmers are busy plotting an explosive evening of fireworks, flames and family fun as they prepare to bring their popular traditional bonfire night back to Penrith next Thursday (5th November).
More than 400 years after Guy Fawkes and his fellow conspirators famously failed in their plot to blow up Parliament in 1605, Penrith Young Farmers have been busy hatching a plot of their own, although thankfully no government buildings are involved in their plans!
Instead, the Young Farmers are preparing to light up the November skies with a traditional bonfire and fireworks display, inviting everyone along to enjoy an evening of community spirit, spectacular fireworks and a roaring bonfire.
Following the success of previous years, the popular event returns on Thursday 5th November at the old football pitch on Inglewood Road, Stoneybeck, Penrith, with the bonfire being lit at 6.30pm and fireworks to follow.
With no official town bonfire or fireworks display planned in Penrith again this year, the Young Farmers are once again stepping up to make sure local families don't miss out on one of the great British traditions of autumn.
The event promises all the ingredients of a proper traditional Bonfire Night, with a roaring fire to keep the November chill at bay, fireworks lighting up the night sky and hot food and drinks available to buy throughout the evening.
The event is being held with the kind permission of the Threlfell family, who have made the land available for the Young Farmers to stage the community celebration.
And the good news is there is no set admission charge, with the organisers instead welcoming donations from those attending to support the event. Collection buckets will be at the entrance, with donations being cash only.
Hot food and drinks will be available to buy on site, with card payments accepted, although visitors are advised to bring some cash just in case.
With the event expected to attract plenty of families and visitors, the Young Farmers have issued a few important reminders to help make sure everyone can enjoy the evening safely.
Anyone travelling by car is asked to follow the directions of the parking stewards, who will be on hand to guide vehicles into the designated parking areas. There must be no roadside parking, and the hard-standing track must be kept clear at all times for emergency access.
The organisers have confirmed that ground conditions are currently firm, allowing vehicles to park in the field.
For safety reasons, sparklers and dogs will not be allowed at the event, while children under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Visitors are also asked to respect the field, neighbouring properties and nearby residents, with plenty of bins provided to keep the site tidy.
The Young Farmers' annual bonfire has become a welcome part of Penrith's autumn calendar, bringing people together for an evening that celebrates a tradition enjoyed by generations of families.
It is also another example of the efforts of local volunteers, with Penrith Young Farmers giving their time to organise an event for the community to enjoy.
So, whether you're looking forward to the crackle of a roaring bonfire, the colourful fireworks bursting overhead or simply an excuse to wrap up warm and enjoy a November evening with family and friends, Penrith Young Farmers have got Bonfire Night covered.
The bonfire and fireworks display takes place on Thursday 5th November 2026 at the old football pitch, Inglewood Road, Stoneybeck, Penrith, CA11 8RP. The bonfire will be lit at 6.30pm, with fireworks to follow.
Everyone is welcome, donations are gratefully received, and all that's left to do is wrap up warm and get ready for a cracking Bonfire Night in Penrith!
