Penrith Fire Crews Called to Another Carbon Monoxide Incident

In the early hours of Saturday morning at approximately 2am both appliances from Penrith Fire Station were mobilised to a carbon monoxide alarm sounding in a property in Hackthorpe.

On arrival crews found all occupants were out of the property.

One of the four occupants who had been in the property were suspected to be suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning.

Fire crews requested an ambulance attend the scene check them out before the person was then taken to hospital as a precautionary measure to have further tests.

Fire crews committed two breathing apparatus wearers along with carbon monoxide and gas checking equipment.

On entering the property the fire crews alarms sounded and showed high readings of carbon monoxide to be present in the property.

The Hackthorpe incident occurred just hours after fire crews had been called to another carbon monoxide incident that resulted in police sealing off Penrith Town centre on Thursday evening with nine properties found to have high levels of carbon monoxide after an alarm activated in one of the previous resulting in one man taken to hospital.

Penrith Fire Station have said “this again shows the importance of properties having working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.”
