Volunteers Salvage Operation Turn Kendal Calling Negative of Abandoned Camping Items into a Positive

As the forty thousand people that attend this year’s Kendal Calling Festival at lowther deer park departed after four days of music and camping, volunteer staff from Westmorland and Furness Council along with volunteers from Penrith & Cumbria Restore charity.

The aim of the day was to salvage equipment and items left by people who attended Kendal Calling Music Festival over the last four days which could then go to help support people living in Poverty and Homelessness across Eden, through Restore's Shop in the New Squares in Penrith.

Onsite the volunteers found that some of the camping fields had very little left, others were however quite the opposite with a significant amount of camping equipment tents and other items abandoned by the departing festival goers.

The team of volunteers however turn the negative of the fields of abandoned items into a positive by salvaging enough camping items to completely fill Restore's van, preventing the discarded camping equipment going to landfill.
