A competitor taking part in a car rally on Sunday (7th July) held in Greystoke Forest, became unwell during the rally, Officials from the Greystoke Stages rally acted immediately to assist the emergency services, but person was pronounced dead at the scene.
The identity of the competitor has not been released, but it’s understood they are from North Yorkshire and a regular rally participant and popular member of the motorsports community.
A spokesperson from Greystokes Stages Rally said: "It is with immense sadness that we inform you all of the passing of a rally competitor”
“The thoughts and condolences of Motorsport Uk, West Cumbria Motorsport Club and Eden Valley Motor Club go to the competitors family, friends and loved ones.”
