A peaceful protest is set to take place outside Voreda House on Saturday calling for the resignation of former Eden Council leader who is now a Westmorland and Furness Council cabinet member.
The calls for Cllr Taylor to resign came as a result of the publication by Westmorland and Furness council of its review of the Voreda House project and the catalog of coverups and failures by the leadership and final administration of Eden District Council.
The report showed a number of failures and coverups of information by the Eden Council administration and named Cllr Taylor directly.
The voreda house project passed to Westmorland and Furness Council on the 1st of April 2023 as Eden Council was dissolved as part of the local government reorganisation in Cumbria.
In the final hours of Eden District Council Cllr Taylor as the council leader danced in celebration at the end of the council at a party paid for by the council to celebrate the council’s demise and the end of the failures uncovered in the Westmorland and Furness Council report into the Voreda House project by the Eden Council administration led by Cllr Taylor.
Calls from former councillors and members of the community for the former Eden Council leader who now hold a cabinet post on Westmorland and Furness Council to resign along with other former Eden council members who now serve on the new council.
Mr David Ryland a former Eden District Councilor said “As a previous member of Eden council I believe a personal apology should be made by Cllr Virginia Taylor to all previous members for misleading us plus she should be stripped of her current cabinet position in the new council or are the Liberal Democrat’s as bad as the reds and blues for giving apologies out”
The peacefully protest had been called for last Sunday but was postponed following a met office weather warning.
The protest will now take place on Saturday (7th September) afternoon at 3pm outside Voreda House.
