Police have issued a warning today (Monday 7th October) to Penrith businesses about fake £20 notes in circulation in the Penrith area.
Police have said the fake notes can be identified despite the paper appearing real, there are some easy to spot signs the notes are fake.
The signs to watch out for on the fake £20 notes are:
King Charles is not on the reverse see through window.
If you tilt the silver strip on the front of the note the writing reads “Prop money”.
The print is also very smooth.
Police are asking businesses to be vigilant.
