On Friday afternoon, officers from Eden Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) conducted a day of action, looking at targeting the use and sale of drugs in Penrith following concerns raised by members of the local community. The operation involved both plain clothes and uniformed officers.
During the day of action, officer conducted stop and searches in the town on nine individuals with one arrest taking place on Drovers Lane for supplying controlled drugs.
The arrest allowed officers to search an address where they recovered about 50 TCH pens, a large quantity of cannabis, Nitrous Oxide and about £1500 in cash. The suspect was released under investigation whilst officers conduct further enquiries.
Two other individuals were offered community resolutions for possessing a class B substance. The community resolution means they will be signposted towards services in order to combat their use of drugs. But if they are caught again, then they could face criminal prosecution.
Eden NPT said they “are committed to taking illegal substances off our streets. We understand the harm this causes in our community”.
