Police Called on Cold Callers using questionable sales techniques in Penrith

Police received calls from concerned residents in Penrith on Monday who reported cold callers going door to door in the area of Brent Road and Brentfield Way.

Police have said the individuals knocking on doors in the area were “using questionable sales techniques”.

Officers attended and found a gang of several individuals involved in the door to door sales of items using the questionable sales techniques.

The gang had cold called on households claiming to be on a probations scheme from Middlesbrough.

Police have confirmed there is no such scheme and those selling goods door to door should have a pedlars certificate.

Officers discovered the gang were operating without a Pedlars Certificate and the seven individuals have now been reported for operating without a Pedlars Certificate that is an offence that carries a fine of up to £200.
