Penrith Squash and Racketball Club has launched a Save Our Club crowdfunding campaign

For nearly 50 years the Penrith Squash & Racketball Club has been an integral part of the local sporting community. It’s been a place where thousands of players have learned the game, formed lifelong friendships, and experienced the physical and mental benefits that sport brings.

But now, the much-loved club is at a critical moment. It’s building and the courts showing clear signs of age and deterioration are in need of urgent investment to ensure the club can continue to welcome everyone for the next 50 years.

The club has said “Without it the club faces closure

In addition to other funding sources and potential match funding the club is hoping to raise £20,000 through a crowdfunding campaign it launched this week to help ensure that they have a sporting facility fit for purpose not only for current and future generations but for the surge of interest expected when squash appears in the 2028 Olympics.

Every contribution, big or small, brings us closer to maintaining our building and its courts. Whether you pledge £20 or £200 or more, you’ll be part of something that makes squash and racketball more accessible and brings people together.

To achieve the funding goal the club has launched a crowdfund campaign and is calling on local people, families, businesses, and sports clubs to rally behind them to help secure the future of the club.

The club said the “campaign is about protecting a community asset that has served Penrith and the wider Eden area for decades”.

Since launching the crowdfunding campaign on Friday the club has already received £4,500 in donation pledged towards its £20,000 target with 49 days left to raise the remaining £15,500.
