Penrith MP Tours Brand-New Housing Development

Member of Parliament for Penrith and Solway, Markus Campbell-Savours, joined Barratt Homes to view the progress of the first phase of brand-new homes at the Carleton Chase development.

The constituency MP was invited to the housebuilder’s 105-home development on Carleton Avenue. Set to deliver a selection of three and four bedroom properties, including 31 affordable homes, the growing Cumbria community is in a beautiful location on the outskirts of Penrith.

During the tour of the development, Mr Campbell-Savours was given an insight into the energy-efficient features of the properties and viewed the brand-new show homes with Elaine Caulfield and Hamid Chaudhry, Barratt Homes’ Sales Manager and Sales Adviser in Penrith.

The MP was also shown the wildlife-friendly gardens at the new development, designed to a high specification to give nature a home.

Markus Campbell-Savours MP said: “It was great to meet with Barratt Homes, not only to see the homes on offer but also to discuss the infrastructure challenges they bring to Penrith, an issue that local residents regularly raise with me.

“These new homes in Penrith go some way to providing the much-needed housing this Labour Government has pledged to build in this Parliament. We want to see 1.5 million new homes being built across the country. To do this, the Government has already reversed the anti-supply measure in the National Planning Policy Framework and is going to make the system clearer, more predictable and faster to build more homes.

“I’m pleased to see that a third of these homes are affordable. It’s really important that we meet the needs of local families in a rural constituency.”

Carleton Chase is home to a wide range of wildlife-friendly features, including bird and bat boxes.

What’s more, the properties are built with sustainability in mind, as selected homes come with electric vehicle charging points.

Rhys Nicholson, Managing Director at Barratt Homes Manchester, said: “We were delighted to welcome Mr Campbell-Savours to Carleton Chase as this exciting development takes shape.

“There has been a high level of interest in the new homes here and we have a wide range of opportunities for Cumbria house hunters to progress on the property ladder.”

Residents at Carleton Chase can take advantage of its excellent location, offering convenient access to Penrith’s town centre and other major towns and cities, whilst having significant swathes of greenery on the doorstep.

Flanked by the Lake District National Park and the North Pennines National Landscape, Penrith ensures a serene lifestyle for all nature lovers to enjoy. In the Eden Valley town itself, home buyers will want for nothing with high street shopping, restaurants, and activities readily available.

Carleton Chase not only ticks boxes for commuters due to its proximity to the M6 and Penrith Train Station, but for parents and families, too, with highly-rated primary and secondary schools nearby and the choice of local supermarkets within two miles of the development.

Anyone interested in the brand-new homes at Carleton Chase is encouraged to visit the development to discover what’s available and discuss the variety of moving schemes to make the process affordable and convenient with the onsite Sales Advisers.
