April will see increasing car parking charges in most Westmorland and Furness carparks in Penrith. The council has issued notice that it will increase charges in all but one of its Penrith carparks with Blue Bell Lane, Sandgate, Drovers Lane 1 hours parking will increase to £2.00, 2 hours will increase to £2.80, 4 hours will increase to £4.80 and up to 10 hours will be increased to £6.80.
With Sundays and bank holidays increasing to £1.50 for all parking periods.
Princes Street Carpark as a short stay carpark with times limited to a maximum of 2 hours will see one hour charged at £2.00 and 2 hours at £3.00
Westmorland and Furness Council are making the increase to parking charges as part of the annual budget setting with councillors set to approve the increase next week.
Penrith will face some of highest parking costs in Westmorland and Furness Council car parks with drivers in Ulverston set to pay just 70p for an hour or 90p for tow hours and £1.10 for three hours.
