Westmorland and Furness Council have issued an urgent road closure notice for the A686 carleton avenue and A6 bridge lane in Penrith to enable National Highways to carry out urgent carriageway repair. It is expected that the work will take 1 night and be carried out between the hours of 20:00 Sunday 17th November - 05:00 Monday 18th November.
The closure will prevent the passage of vehicles along the following lengths of road in Penrith.
(A686 Carleton Avenue, from its roundabout with the A66 extending in a north easterly direction for approximately 250m
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the A686 Carleton Road, Beacon Edge, Salkeld Road, Scotland Road, Stricklandgate, Brunswick Road, Cromwell Road, Ullswater Road and A66.
A6 Bridge Lane, from its roundabout with the A66 extending in a north westerly direction for approximately 240m
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of Bridge Lane, Castlegate, Ullswater Road and A66.
The A66 will also have overnight lane closures between junction 40 and Kemplay for resurfacing work to be carried out.
Pedestrian and dismounted cyclists access will be made available however access for emergency vehicles will not possible during the works.
