Only half of residents eligible to vote in the General election on the 4th of July in Penrith turned out to vote on the day at the polling stations operating in Penrith.
Data obtained by Penrith.Town from Cumberland Council, who had responsability for the running the election for the new Penrith and Solway Constituency on the 4th of July, shows the total eligible to vote on the day at each polling station against the number of votes cast at each polling station in Penrith.
The numbers exclude the postal votes that across the entire constituency had a total number of postal votes issued of 16,416
In Penrith across five polling stations a total of 10.611 voters were entitled to attend the polling stations to cast a vote on the 4th or July in the General Election.
On election Day on the 4th of July 2024, just 5,711 voters in Penrith turned out to cast a vote for one of the eight candidates with a total of 148 ballot papers rejected across the entire constituency.
