Emergency Services are currently responding to a serious collision involoving a pedestrian on the M6 North of Penrith
The M6 is fully closed northbound from J41 and full closure southbound at J42.
Police and emergency services were called to the incident at 8:06pm today (Sept 14)
National Highways Traffic Officers are also on scene providing assistance with traffic management
The road is expected to remain closed for some time with diversion routes in operation:
Northbound traffic is advised to follow the solid triangle diversion symbol:
Exit the M6 northbound at J41, and take the 4th exit on to the B5303 (signposted A6)
At Stoneybeck roundabout, take the A6 northbound
Continue straight on through Plumpton and High and Low Hesket
Re-join the M6 northbound at J42
Southbound traffic is advised to follow the solid square diversion symbol:
Exit the M6 southbound at J42, and take the 2nd exit on to the A6
Travel on the A6 through Low and High Hesket and Plumpton
At the roundabout with the B5305, take the 4th exit on to the B5305
Travel on the B5305 and rejoin the M6 southbound at J41
The A6 North of Penrith is already reported as congested as traffic diverts from the M6 in both directions.
