Due to ongoing global IT issues, urgent and emergency services in Cumbria are experiencing a higher number of patients.
local GPs and community teams use the EMIS system, which is currently down as part of a global issue that is impacting multiple systems from airlines and banks to supermarkets. Morrisons and Booths have both faced issues today locally resuling in shoppers having to use cash to make payments.
As a result of the IT issues, community teams of the North Cumbria Integrated Care are operating with paper records today.
For life-threatening emergencies or urgent care needs, A&E departments remain available.
Urgent Treatment Centres in Penrith and Keswick are open for urgent but non-life-threatening conditions.
The NCIC has said “If condition is not urgent you may have a longer wait no matter which service you use today.”
