Eden Neighbourhood Policing Team open Devonshire Arcade community drop-in centre

The Eden Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) have secured a drop-in centre in Devonshire Arcade in Penrith.

The centre will be staffed by officers and PCSOs from the Neighbourhood Team and is a chance for residents and tourists to meet their local officers and speak to them face to face about any issues or concerns.

Located in Devonshire Arcade on Devonshire Street, the centre aims to reach tourists and older residents of the town who don’t use social media, as well as young people who use the arcade.

The first opening was on Saturday (10 August) which saw residents drop in to speak to local PCSO Mark Robson (pictured).

Inspector Mo Bibby, Eden NPT said: “The new centre will provide that visible policing presence in the centre of town and act as a base for the community to bring in any concerns.

“The centre is ideally placed in the town centre and is also located in our Operation Enhance hotpot area for anti-social behaviour and serious violence.

“I would encourage our community to come along and speak to us if they have any concerns or issues so we can look into them with our partners.”

The centre will currently be in place until September and PCSO’s will advertise the opening times for community drop-ins in on social media.

This work forms part of Operation Enhance - Cumbria Police's new county-wide crackdown on anti-social behaviour (ASB) and serious violence.
