A major UK-wide endurance challenge is taking place in April, as Crewsaders crew chief David Walmsley embarks on an extraordinary journey to complete 30 full marathons in 30 consecutive days. Travelling from the Isle of Skye to London, the initiative aims to raise vital funds and awareness for mental health support, benefiting charities including MIND, Scottish Action for Mental Health, and events entertainment industry charity Backup Tech.
David started out in his UK-wide endurance challenge on the 1st April 2026, running 30 full marathons in 30 consecutive days that will see him running through South along the A6 through Penrith on the 13-14th April.
The challenge is designed to shine a spotlight on the growing mental health pressures faced across industries and communities, particularly within high-demand sectors such as events and entertainment. Each of the 30 marathons, covering 42.2km per day, symbolises the resilience required by individuals who may be struggling silently, while encouraging open conversations, reducing stigma, and promoting access to support services.

David, who works within the events industry and has seen firsthand the impact of mental health challenges on colleagues and communities. Speaking ahead of the challenge, he emphasised that the initiative is about more than physical endurance: it is a call to action to foster dialogue, solidarity, and tangible support. Funds raised will directly contribute to frontline services, early intervention programs, and long-term wellbeing initiatives across the UK.
The campaign is proudly supported by Crewsaders, a UK-based events workforce company committed to embedding mental health and wellbeing into its operational culture. With initiatives such as on-site Mental Health First Aiders, fatigue management systems, and proactive wellbeing reporting, the company continues to advocate for safer, more supportive working environments in high-pressure industries.
Throughout the 30-day journey, local communities across Scotland, England, and Wales are encouraged to participate by supporting fundraising efforts, following daily updates, and engaging in conversations about mental health. Supporters can donate, share the campaign, and track Walmsley’s progress online, helping to ensure that no one facing mental health challenges feels alone.
