Dalemain Marmalade Festival turn 20 with a fantastic achievement!

More than £320k raised by Marmalade makers for Hospice at Home as Awards celebrate 20th Anniversary.

The end of another magnificent marmalade year is also the launch of the 20th Anniversary year for The Dalemain World Marmalade Awards. The Awards presented Hospice at Home, Carlisle and North Lakeland with a cheque for the amount raised from the 2024 awards of £18,575. This amount did not include donations made by any entrants who chose to donate to their local hospice. Stephen Snead our 2024 Homemade winner has also nominated Kyrebrooke Daycare Centre as his charity of choice and a percentage of the sales of his winning marmalade which is £2,286 will go towards his nominated charity.  This brings the total up to over £320k from Homemade marmalade entries into the Awards over the past 20 years.

The cheque presentation ceremony to Hospice at Home took place at Dalemain Mansion, with volunteers and local judges, many of whom have supported the Awards since their creation. Representatives from sponsors Lycetts and Westmorland Family were there as well as from Hospice at Home included Lady Elizabeth Leeming, CEO Debbie Mckenna and two Hospice nurses received the cheque from Jane Hasell-McCosh, the founder of the Awards.

‘It’s an honour for Lycetts to be involved in the awards. Hopefully we can support this hugely worthwhile cause for years to come. Every single person who entered the awards has contributed to this incredible donation amount.’ – Simon Aitkin, Lycetts

‘I would like to thank everyone who has entered and volunteered over the last 20 years. The generosity and loyalty of these Awards to Hospice at Home, Carlisle and North Lakeland is so valued. Each persons contribution to this wonderful event is appreciated more than we can say.’ – Lady Elizabeth Leeming, President, Hospice at Home Carlisle & North Lakeland

‘It is a wonderful thing to have witnessed this competition that my mother Jane created, develop into an internationally recognised event. To be able to contribute to Hospice at Home every year in this significant way is a truly remarkable achievement from everyone who helps make the awards what they are. It is also in no small part thanks to our sponsors that we are able to donate this amount each year – Fortnum & Mason, Rathbones, Westmorland Family and Lycetts. They are extremely generous with their time, expertise and enthusiasm for this rather extraordinary idea.’ – Beatrice Hasell-McCosh, Director of The Dalemain World Marmalade Awards
