Crackenthorpe Man Given Suspended Sentence for Stalking and Making Indecent Images of a Child

A man from Crackenthorpe has been convicted following an investigation into stalking and sexual offences committed over the courses of a year.

Ben Kelly, aged 31 of Crackenthorpe appeared at Carlisle Crown Court charged with stalking and two counts of making indecent images of a child.

The case involves one child and relates to offences from early 2024 to September 2025.

T/DC Martyn Smith, Eden CID said: “We take offences like this extremely seriously and endeavour to put offenders before the courts so that can be held accountable for their crimes.

“This conviction has ensured measures are put place to protect the public in future.

“I would urge anyone who is a victim of any form of sexual offences to report this to police.”

Kelly was given a suspended sentence and placed on the Sex Offenders register, as well as being made subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO). A restraining order has also been put in place banning Kelly from contacting the victim and the victim’s mother for 10 years.
