Council opens polling district review Consultation

Westmorland and Furness Council has opened a statutory review of its polling districts, places and stations across the Westmorland and Furness District as part of the the review the council is requesting views about the existing arrangements for the polling districts, polling places and polling stations, and any proposed amendments and any suggestions for alternatives.

Any registered elector within the Westmorland and Furness Council area or from within a UK Parliamentary constituency which has any part in the authority may comment on the proposals. The council has said as well as the views of residents it will consult with local political parties, MPs, councillors, parish and town councils.

Westmorland and Furness is split between the four Parliamentary constituency boundaries of: Barrow and Furness, Morecambe and Lunesdale, Penrith and Solway and Westmorland and Lonsdale following the recent changes to the constituencies.

All comments received will be published anonymously on the council’s website once the consultation closes on Friday 13 December.

Final proposals will be considered by the meeting of the council on Thursday 23 January 2025 and the outcome of the review will then be published by the council.
