Center Parcs evacuated after what was staff said was a ‘security incident' with staff seen 'running around panicking', turned out to be a power cut that blacked out most of the Eden area this evening.
Chaos was triggered by a reported "security incident" at the CenterParcs Whinefell Forest holiday centre this evening.
A mass evacuation was carried out amid a reported security incident.
It understood the panicking started when the power cut and emergency lighting activated with an evacuation message playing over the speakers.
Guests staying at the holiday park said a full evacuation was taking place due to a ‘security incident’ with staff running about panicking.
Shortly before the automatic evacuation message was played over the speakers, all the electricity went out and the emergency lighting turned on. Staff then rushed everyone out of the building.
A Center Parcs spokesperson had said: "We understand that there was a very short power outage that affected the local area around Penrith, this evening."
