The A66 in Cumbria is closed in both directions between the A5086 near Cockermouth and the A591 near Keswick due to a serious collision involving two vehicles.
Emergency services including Cumbria Police are in attendance following reports of the collision in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Due to the nature of the incident, the road will be closed for some time to allow for Police collision investigation works to take place with the road expected to remain closed until approximately 3pm this afternoon. (Saturday 6th June)

Eastbound diverted traffic is advised to follow the hollow square symbol on eastbound road signs:
At the A66/A595 junction near Cockermouth, take the A595 northbound and head towards Carlisle
At the A595/A594 roundabout, continue on the A595
At Bothel, turn right and join the A591 southbound towards Keswick
Follow the A591 to Crosthwaite Roundabout near Keswick and then re-join the A66
Westbound diverted traffic is advised to follow the hollow triangle symbol on eastbound road signs:
At the A66/A591 Crosthwaite Roundabout near Keswick, take the A591 exit
Continue northbound on the A591 towards Bothel
At Bothel, turn left and follow the A595 southwest towards Cockermouth
Re-join the A66 at the A66/A595 Fitz roundabout near Cockermouth
