Chancellor Rachel Reeves will this afternoon according to the treasury “Announce immediate action to restore economic stability and deliver departmental savings this financial year".
The chancellor will reveal cuts to plug what is claimed to be a '£20bn black hole in public finances from the previous government, the chancellor is also expected to accuse Rishi Sunak's government of "covering up the true state of the public finances".
The cuts are likely to include the immediate suspension of some road projects, including the the £1.49bn A66 upgrade along with other road projects including the Stonehenge tunnel along with the suspension of Forty hospital building projects across the UK.
The chancellor will announce the immediate cuts in a speech to parliament just after 3pm today in what is expected to be a heated exchange across the floor between Labour and Conservatives.
