A66 to remain closed until Monday Morning

National Highways have announced the A66 will remain closed throughout Sunday for emergency resurfacing work and is expected to remain closed until 7am on Monday the 4th November.

The road was closed on Saturday following a fuel tanker crash that resulted in a large fuel spillage and the tanker overturning and leaving the carriageway.

The road is closed in both directions between the A591 at Keswick and the A5091 (Troutbeck)

Recovery of the vehicle has now taken place overnight but an extensive repair and resurfacing operation will now take place and will likely take another day at least to complete.
