A66 Closed to high sided and vulnerable vehicles in both directions due to strong winds

The A66 between North Yorkshire (A1M) and Cumbria (M6) is closed to high sided and vulnerable vehicles in both directions due to strong winds.

Road users travelling across the Pennines are advised to plan ahead and consider alternate routes such as the A69.

National Highways said “If this closure impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time. Plan ahead, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey.”

The strong winds effecting the area from the tail end of Storm Bert now passing by the UK.

A Yellow Weather Warning for strong winds is in place for Northern Ireland until 6pm with winds expected to blow in from the West across Cumbria for most of the day on Sunday.
