A6 traffic Chaos as Council Contractors Close Road hours ahead of schedule

The A6 between Clifton and Eamont Bridge has been closed by contractors carrying out resurfacing work for Westmorland and Furness Council today leading to traffic delays and congestion as cars and HGV’s are forced to turn around on the A6 due to a lack of signage and diversion route signage.

Westmorland and Furness Council had put an overnight road closure in place on the A6 between 6pm this evening and 6am tomorrow morning to allow the works to take place at the same time as a southbound closure of the A6 at Kemplay to minimise disruption.

Westmorland and Furness Council are looking into why the road has been closed ahead of schedule by its contractors.
