45 Year old man who died following two-vehicle collision on A66 named

A man who died following a two-vehicle collision on the A66, near Thornthwaite, on Saturday has been formally identified as Pete Faulkner, 45, of Cockermouth.

Mr Faulkner was pronounced deceased at the scene after a collision involving a Ford and a Dacia.

Police received a report of a collision at 1.18am on Saturday morning with the A66 closed until late Saturday afternoon.

Mr Faulkner was the driver in the Dacia.

The driver of the second vehicle, a man, was taken to hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening or changing.

Police are investigating the collision and are appealing for any witnesses – or anyone who saw anything relevant – to contact them on 101, referring to incident 23 of June 6.
