Substantial Delays Around Penrith This Afternoon

Traffic in and around Penrith is gridlocked heading onto J40 with long tailbacks on the M6, A66 and roads heading out of Penrith.

Drivers are blocking roundabouts and driving through red lights leading to further congestion.

Delays of 40 minutes between junction 41 and 40 on the M6 are currently been reported with delays of 20-30 minutes on the A66 and roads heading out of Penrith.

There are also tailbacks on the A6 through Eamont Bridge due to the congestion around Kemplay Roundabout.
