Saturday Afternoon will see the Penrith Sparkel event bring the town centre alive with a range of street entertainers’ music and events as part of the towns Christmas lights switch on event.
This year the winter droving parade will form part of the parade through the town at 5pm that will do two laps of the town before the big switch on of the lights at 6pm.
The parade will form up from 16:15 outside Ullswater Community College before setting off on its journey around town.
The headline sponsor once again of the 2025 Penrith Christmas Lights and Sparkle event is The Leo Group who said “We are delighted to again be sponsoring the Christmas Sparkle in Penrith, and we are looking forward to seeing you all on Saturday!”
Penrith Town Council has awarded a £5,000 grant to Penrith Business Improvement District (BID) through its Signature Grants Scheme to support the delivery of the Penrith Sparkle event, taking place tomorrow, Saturday 22 November 2025.
Cllr Scott Jackson, Acting Chair of Penrith Town Council's Communities Committee said:
“Penrith Sparkle is a long-standing tradition in our town and a wonderful way to mark the beginning of the festive season. It’s an event that brings excitement and joy to families, especially our youngest residents and we are delighted to support Penrith BID in delivering another fantastic celebration for 2025.
"Penrith Sparkle brings people together and showcases Penrith as a vibrant, welcoming place to live, work and visit.
"The Council is proud to support one of the town’s key annual celebrations, and we hope everyone who attends enjoys a memorable day.”
Thee forecast for Saturday afternoon is currently dry but cold with temperatures dropping to close freezing by late afternoon early evening so wrap up warm.

A6 Devonshire Street from its junction with Burrowgate extending in a south easterly
direction to its junction with A592.
