Police catch two young shoplifters in Penrith

Police in Penrith detained two young shoplifters yesterday (Wednesday 13th November) at Sainsbury's when members of the Eden Neighbourhood Policing team on foot patrol in town caught two youths in connection with shoplifting at the New Squares supermarket working with store security. Police detained the two young shoplifters and have informed their parents/guardians of the incident.

A spokesperson for force said: "We have-been conducting high-visibility foot patrols”

"We continue to work with local businesses in order to prevent crime and disorder through the Penrith shop watch scheme."  

Police have increased patrols and visibility in the town as part of efforts to address a rise in anti social behaviour in and around Penrith.
