Penrith Community Fire Station will be opening its doors tomorrow, Monday 31st August, for a special fundraising open day in support of The Firefighters Charity. The event runs from 11am until 3pm and promises a packed programme of activities for all ages.
Visitors will be able to try their hand at using fire hoses, explore the station’s appliances, and meet the firefighters who serve the local community. A range of partner organisations who work closely with Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service – including the Beep Doctors, Police, Ambulance and Blood Bikes – will also be taking part, giving the public the chance to see the wider emergency services network in action.
A dedicated SEN session will take place between 10am and 11am, with families invited to contact the fire station directly for further details on attending.
The day will feature a host of fun attractions including games, balloons, fake tattoos, a virtual reality firefighting experience, and a live fire demonstration.
Younger visitors will be well catered for, while adults can enjoy browsing the stalls, chatting with emergency service teams, and learning more about life at the station.
Of course, no Penrith Fire Station open day would be complete without the famous raffle, this year offering some amazing prizes with over £4000 of prizes donated by local businesses.
Tickets are just £1 each, with the draw taking place on the day. Food and refreshments, cakes and ice cream will also be on sale, making it a great community day out.
