A man has been charged with numerous offences – including two counts of attempted murder – following an incident at an address in Penrith in the early hours of Thursday (27 Nov).
Samuel Hughes, 46, of Brentfield Way, Penrith was charged yesterday (29 Nov) with two counts of attempted murder and single counts of grievous bodily harm, possession of a bladed article and aggravated burglary.
He remains in police custody having been refused bail prior to his appearing before Carlisle Magistrates’ Court on Monday (1 Dec).
Police were called at 4.16am on Thursday to a report that two people inside an address in Brentfield Way, Penrith, had suffered injuries after being assaulted by a man with a knife.
Officers attended and arrested a man on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. However, he was taken to hospital having also suffered injuries. He was transferred from hospital to police custody on Friday evening (28 Nov).
The two occupants of the address who suffered injuries in the incident were treated at hospital but were released the same day (27 Nov).
