M6 Northbound Closed Tonight between Shap and Penrith

National Highways are carrying out bridge inspections and progressing bridge repairs on the M6 between junction 39 and 40.

To complete work safely, National Highways will close the M6 overnight between 10pm to 6am northbound tonight Monday 24th November. The M6 southbound between J40 and J39 will be closed on Tuesday night (25th November) between 10pm and 6am

Signed diversions for M6 traffic will be via the A6 between J39 at Shap and J40 Penrith.

National Highway said “We’re working overnight when traffic is lowest and have speed restrictions on the diversion to reduce disruption.”
