Traffic around and through Penrith is once again gridlocked as two lanes of the M6 between J40 and 41 come to a standstill as traffic exiting the M6 at J40 runs into queuing traffic on the A66 in both directions between Kemplay roundabout and J40.
Traffic heading along the A6 through Penrith is also queuing through the town center from Kemplay roundabout and back along Scotland road.
Drivers are facing delays of 50-60 minutes currently on the M6 and along the A66 with delays of 30 minutes through the town this afternoon.
