Final Hours of Voting Underway with Low Turnout Reported

Voters have just under two hours left to vote in the Cumbria Police Fire Crime Commissioner election and in Penrith West the town council By election.

Polls close at 10pm with counting getting underway shortly after polls close.

Early reports are that turnout has been low across Cumbria today and voter ID requirements have caused confusion for voters with voters turned away from polling stations due to not having the required ID.

We will bring the results from the Penrith West by election and the PFCC election as they are announced overnight.
