A66 Closed to high sided vehicles due to strong winds

National Highways have closed the A66 in both directions to high sided vehicles between the A1M (Scotch Corner) and the M6 (Penrith) due to strong winds.

Road users travelling across the Pennines are advised to plan ahead and consider alternate routes such as the A69.

National Highways said “If this closure impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time. Plan ahead, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey.”

strong winds are forecast across the North Pennines until mid afternoon on Saturday.
